## Seat model

Whale has two seat types, and this is the single most important thing to get right when quoting Whale:

- **Members** consume content. They view documentation, search, ask Alice (Whale's AI assistant), comment, and complete training and quizzes.
- **Creators** build and edit content. They document SOPs, record processes, and design training flows.

All paid plans include **unlimited members**. Creators are included per plan and can be added for a per-creator monthly fee. Pricing does not vary by user role.

## AI credits

AI credits are usage credits that power Whale's AI features, including AI quiz generation, video-to-guide conversion, and AI-assisted card creation. Ask Alice, Whale's AI assistant, is trained on your workspace content and answers questions about your SOPs, policies and procedures. **Ask Alice does not consume AI credits.**

## FAQs

### Can I add more creators or members to my plan?

Yes. Members are unlimited on every paid plan. Creators are included per plan, with the option to add more: Free includes 1 creator and up to 10 members; Scale includes 3 creators and unlimited members, with additional creators at $29 per creator per month; Advance includes 5 creators and unlimited members, with additional creators at $39 per creator per month. For Enterprise creator counts and pricing, contact sales.

### Are there differences in pricing between user roles?

No. Seat-based pricing is the same regardless of role.

### Can I export my SOPs from Whale?

Yes, on the paid plans. Export is not available on the Free plan. Scale and above include full export functionality: SOPs export as PDF files, and any SOP can be exported straight to an editable Word document in one click.

### Where is my data hosted, and can I choose the location?

Yes, you can choose. Data is stored in SOC 2 compliant, enterprise-grade data centers in one of two locations: Europe (Belgium, GDPR compliant) or the United States (Iowa). You select the location during setup, which gives you control over data residency. All data centers hold SOC 2 Type II certification.

### Do you offer non-profit pricing?

Yes. Nonprofits receive a 20% discount on all subscriptions.

### What is the cancellation policy?

You can cancel your plan at any time.

### What about future updates and versions?

Every new update is immediately available to all Whale users at no extra cost.

### How easy is it to get Whale up and running?

Whale ships with best practices and industry-specific templates to get started. Implementation support is included on paid plans, and migration of existing documentation is available as an option on Scale and Advance and included on Enterprise.

### Does Whale work with AI agents?

Yes. **Whale MCP access is available on every plan, including Free.** It connects AI agents to your Whale knowledge through the Model Context Protocol. Public API access is an Enterprise feature.
