Parental Leave Policy

💡 Policy Purpose

Our Parental Leave Policy is designed to support employees in balancing their work responsibilities with their family obligations. This policy ensures that employees who are becoming parents, whether through birth, adoption, or foster care, have the necessary time to care for and bond with their children while maintaining their employment status.

📝 Policy Elements

  1. Scope:
    • This policy applies to all employees who are expecting or have recently become parents. It covers maternity leave, paternity leave, adoption leave, and any other leave related to parental responsibilities.

  2. Maternity Leave:
    • Employees who are expectant mothers are entitled to [four months of paid maternity leave], with an option for [two additional months of unpaid leave] if needed for recovery. During paid maternity leave, employees will retain their position, benefits, and pay. Additional leave options may be provided in accordance with local laws if they offer more extensive coverage.

  3. Paternity Leave:
    • Employees who identify as fathers are entitled to [four months of paid paternity leave]. This leave allows fathers to care for and bond with their newborn or newly adopted child. The same protections for position, benefits, and pay apply as with maternity leave.

  4. Adoption Leave:
    • Employees adopting a child are entitled to [four months of paid adoption leave]. This leave can also be used for attending necessary appointments or meetings related to the adoption process. Documentation may be required to support the leave request.

  5. Other Parental Leave:
    • In addition to the above, employees may take [six days] of paid leave per year for other child-related needs, such as medical appointments, school visits, or caring for a sick child. This leave is provided in addition to other forms of parental leave or paid time off.

  6. Flexible Work Arrangements:
    • Following the end of parental leave, employees may request flexible work arrangements for up to [one year] to support their transition back to work.

  7. Procedure:
    • Employees must notify their supervisor and HR of their intention to take maternity or paternity leave at least [four months in advance]. For other types of parental leave, [two days’ notice] is required. Requests should be submitted through our HRIS system.
