No. Step Recorder runs inside the Whale web app, so there is nothing to install. You can start recording the moment you log in to Whale. This is a change from the older version, which ran as a Chrome extension and only captured browser tabs. The current Step Recorder works from the browser but captures the whole screen, including desktop software.
Yes, within limits. You can reorder steps, edit descriptions, remove captures you don’t need, and add extra context or screenshots to any step. Alice, Whale’s AI assistant, can also polish the text or rewrite sections. What you can’t do today is splice two separate recordings together into one. If a process needs a mid-stream edit, the cleanest path is to re-record the full flow, which is usually faster than trying to stitch.
