- This policy applies to all employees experiencing the loss of an immediate family member or a close friend.

Definition of Immediate Family:
- Immediate family includes spouses or domestic partners, parents, siblings, children, grandparents, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and in-laws. Legal guardians and step-relatives are also included.

Duration of Leave:
- Employees are entitled to a minimum of three days of paid bereavement leave.
- Additional two days may be granted for travel if the funeral is held out of town.
- Employees may request an extension of up to one week of unpaid leave for complex matters like estate handling.
Paid vs. Unpaid Leave:
- The first three days of bereavement leave are paid. Additional leave is unpaid unless employees opt to use their paid time off (PTO).
