Glitter AI is an AI documentation tool. You talk through a process while you work, and it captures your voice, your clicks and your screenshots, then writes the steps and keeps the original video alongside the finished guide. One recording gives you both a written SOP and a video walkthrough.
Whale is a SOP, training and knowledge platform. It also captures procedures, but its job continues after the guide exists: assigning it to the right people, checking they understood it, and keeping it current as the process changes.

Whale is built around the whole life of a procedure, not just its creation. Every SOP has an owner, a version history and a review cycle. You can assign it, confirm it has been read, and test understanding with AI-generated quizzes. Approval flows and expert review cycles keep content trustworthy as it changes, an org chart maps processes to roles, and template libraries mean you are not starting from a blank page. Whale records screen walkthroughs too, with a built-in Step Recorder and Video to SOP, and through Whale’s MCP external AI tools can read and write your documentation directly.
Glitter AI is very good at the thing it is built for. It captures a workflow from your screen while you narrate it, transcribes what you said into numbered steps, grabs a screenshot at each click, and keeps the original video next to the written guide. It will also take an existing recording, a Zoom or Loom file or footage of a real-world process, and turn that into a step-by-step guide, which is how most teams clear a backlog of old training videos.
Finished guides export to PDF, HTML and Markdown, or embed into a knowledge base you already run, with Word, PowerPoint and SCORM available as paid add-ons. Sensitive information can be blurred, and on-device blurring, where redaction happens locally before anything leaves the machine, is an add-on on Team and included on Enterprise.
Where it stops is training delivery. There are no courses, no quizzes and no completion tracking, so if you need to prove a procedure was read and understood, that has to happen somewhere else.
Whale is rated 9.6 out of 10 for ease of use on G2 and is built so a non-technical team member can document, find and train on a process without help. The setup that matters is structural: where procedures live, who owns them, and who has to read them.
Glitter AI is very quick to start. Install the extension or the desktop app, talk through a process once, and you have a guide without writing anything. Because the narration is transcribed rather than synthesised, the explanation sounds like the person who actually does the job.
The limits worth knowing before you commit are practical rather than conceptual. Recording length is capped by plan, from 5 minutes on the free tier to 60 minutes on Enterprise, and the free plan is a single seat with 10 guides in total and no PDF, HTML or Markdown export. Exporting and collaborating start on the paid tiers.
Whale provides a responsive team on live chat and email, plus Coaching & Training services and a Migration service that will take the documentation you already have, wherever it lives today, including exports from other tools, and get it in properly.
Glitter AI offers email and chat support on all plans, with dedicated support on Enterprise. Its security posture is a genuine strength and is worth stating plainly: it is SOC 2 Type II certified on every plan, and it states that customer content has never been used to train AI models.

Glitter AI is priced per seat for people creating guides. Whale is priced per plan, with unlimited members on paid plans and a set number of creators included, because it is carrying training delivery, assignments, completion tracking and an org chart as well as the documents. If all you need is faster documentation, Glitter AI is the cheaper tool and the right one. If you also need to prove people have read and understood a procedure, compare it against what that would otherwise cost you in a separate LMS.
