How Avior Wealth trained a fast-growing team across 8 locations

Avior Wealth is an investment advisory firm recognized as one of America’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies, having expanded from one office to eight locations across seven states in seven years. Cindi Bohrer, Director of Operations, needed a single searchable platform to house the firm’s standard operating procedures and processes so team members across all locations could be trained consistently.

The challenge

The challenge was how to have one searchable database where the team could store their standard operating procedures and processes to train new hires across eight locations. The team needed a centralized place where everything lived on one platform, with a uniform voice and consistent structure across all content areas.

To help document their SOPs and processes, the team worked with Whale partner Adi Klevit and started with operations, the area growing fastest at the time.

“We really wanted something that we could use to provide learning and training opportunities for all of our employees irrespective of where they found themselves.”

The solution

How Avior Wealth centralized SOPs across 8 locations with Whale

Process consultant and Whale partner Adi Klevit worked with the team to create, centralize, and share SOPs and process documentation on Whale. Adi helped ensure content was created with one uniform voice and completed within specific timelines. Training was rolled out in operations first as the primary area where new hires were entering the business.

The result is one central repository that trains team members across all eight locations from the same documentation. Most team members keep Whale open in their browser throughout the day so the information is always at hand.

“Documenting our processes was one part of it but we needed to have one spot where people could go and get the answers. A kind of Google search, if you will, for our business.”

One platform, eight locations, consistent training

Liz Sanley, Operations Manager, notes that team members can now go back and access training as and when needed, replacing the paper notes that used to get lost after sessions. Most of the team keeps Whale open in their browser throughout the workday, treating it as their go-to reference for any question.

“It’s been very educational for people to go back in and access training as and when needed. Often when people get trained they take paper notes which get lost and it’s difficult to access the information at a later stage. Whale made this easy!”

The results

8 locations trained from one central knowledge base
